INVITATION: Young Scholars Divining the Future of Anthropology

26 Aug 2026

Dear ASnA Members,

You are invited to an event on September 3rd at 11:00 AM at the Wits Anthropology Museum. The organizers look forward to your presence, whether in person or online.

This event commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Wits Anthropology Department. Instead of a celebration, it aims to address urgent issues. Inspired by Francis Nyamnjoh's (2012) work on Divining Anthropology, the organizing team has invited five young scholars from Southern Africa to discuss the challenges we face and suggest various future paths and possibilities.

All students and colleagues are encouraged to participate in this significant discussion. Please find the online link below.
